These clowns have just called me. Strong South African accent and it was 'not a sales call' apparently. I'm also registered with the TPS but clearly this is pointless this calls originating from outside the UK.

I told him he was wasting his time in not so many words and hung up.

I have just been cold called by a 1st call connect about reclaiming PPI on loans and mortgages. I get a number of these calls like everyone else but this one went into a spiel before i had a chance to cut him off and he spouted off a number of lies which could be considered fraudulent misrepresentation.

    These were:
1 - That I had loans and mortgages with PPI and that i had been mis-sold and there was money waiting to collect (i have never had PPI and there is no such pot of money)

2 - That the banks have been found guilty of selling PPI and have to refund (no they haven't)

3 - when told I dont have it, he then said it would be hidden and I did actually have it (another lie)

I interrupted him at that point and gave him a mouthful. I have reported it to the ministry of justice and suggest anyone getting called by this comapny does the same. They have also ended up on the FSA's warnings and scams list as well listing unregulated companies:
    http://www.fsa.gov.uk/doing/regulated/law/alerts/unauthorised-firms

I'm also TPS so they breached that as well.

  • I was phoned this morning concerning a 'refund' The gent sounded more Asian than S African so I was surprised to actually be given the following details
This set up is called 1st (or First) Call
    220, Flanders Drive
    Mount Edgecombe
    Durban 4068
    South Africa
    Tel no 0207 0609336
As I wouldn't confirm my identity I was told they wouldn't give me me details due to the data protection act, I hung up. Over the next 5 mins the phone rang 3 times - it's now off the hook.......
  • Received a call from First Call today. Selling PPI claims. Advised them that I was surprised to take a call from them as I had joined the TPS (Telephone Preference Service). I advised them also that I did not appreciate cold calling and asked them, again to remove me from their call list. I had advised them a few months ago also. Phone was put down on me.

Decided to make a complaint to TPS and ICO (Information Commissioners Office) on this matter. A link takes you to a great website regarding contacts for nuisance calls and lists the links for TPS and ICO at the end of the online leaflet. As this is my first post I am not able to supply the online link, but if you search for consumers ofcom org uk files 2012 09 all-guides-small pdf (putting dots . up to uk followed by forward slashes / in the spaces after you may get there!

    Hope this helps others.
This is my first post so hopefully it's OK!

I've just had a call from First Call (0207 0609 336) telling me I am due a PPI refund.

I explained very politely that Ihave never taken out any PPI on loans or credit cards etc, - and that I would deal direct with banks etc if I thought I had a claim.

I was then told that the banks are lying to their customers where they make contact direct, and that I wouldn't know if PPI had been charged because they weren't showing it on the loan agreements and I wouldn't be able to tell from any statements.

I have just reported them via the TPS website. I do actually hope they phone me back again as I will take great delight in telling them this.

  • I have just had a call from them today, still using the same phone number.
We have been on the TNS list for around 8 years but we still get these calls. I don't click to allow any of these types of firms to contact me so why do they do it? Am I right in thinking that peoples names, address's and phone numbers get sold to other companies so that they can then hassle you? And when you ask to be removed from their lists, are you actually removed or are you just sold on to the next company that buys them?
