Laptop Screen Flickers

I have had my laptop for about 8 months, its a Fujitsu Amilo Li 2727. For about the last month the screen has flickered and its occuring more and more.
I have taken it to Carphone Warehouse who said they can get it repaired but it'll take 6-8 weeks.
They gave me the number for the Fujitsu Helpline but I have been on hold for 17 minutes with no answer (calling from a mobile I cant wait for my next bill)
Can someone recommend anything to fix it or a non 0870 number.
The number I have is 0870 2434394 and the trusted saynoto0870 website isnt working.

The websites back up and I managed to find an alternate number but the system is useless. Keep getting put on hold to really quiet classical music.

it sounds like the ribbon is loose between the board and the screen. Fujistu will take care of it.

Yeah.... Sounds like a ribbon cable, on the cheap laptops (ie not business class), the cable between the base and the screen tends to be quite low quality... After many open/close the copper wire "work hardens" and breaks.

  • could be the ribbon cable - usually the culprit - could be faulty inverter inside the screen - usually at the bottom. faulty inverters tend to cause this symptom also.

if you're any good at fixing things yourselves, both the ribbon cable and inverter are easily available on sites such as ebay.

Don't carry out any work on it yourself while it's still under guarantee.

Doing so will infringe the terms of your warranty and if something expensive subsequently fails you'll have to pay for it yourself.

Thank you all for your help, I am still trying to get in touch with Fujitsu but it seems riding on the back of Haleys Comet is easier
