MS Word is a licensed commercial product which is NOT free. You might be eligible to purchase the product at a discount eg student / teacher?
Alternatively you could consider another package such as Open Office.0 -
It's a paid-for product so no. Why not download OpenOffice though? The word processing part can open Word files and it's completely free.0

You can download a free 60-day trial of Office Standard (includes Word) from http://www.microsoft.com/office/trial/default.mspx0

If anybody in your family is a student/teacher, you could get the legit version of Office 2003 for £79.97 (PCWorld: Product Code 961787). Nothing stop you buying this even when you're not student/teacher since you do not need to produce your NUS card when buying it from PCWorld.0
