I am trying to connect the mobile phone to my lap top via blue tooth and it keeps on asking for the passkey - where do I find that?

when you send something to another media device, the device you are sending from often asks you to create a passkey so that only those who know the passkey can download the file

    its for security reasons

if you havnt ever had to create a passkey then you should just hit enter when the laptop asks for one and it should work
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

It's the one you have set. If you don't want one, remove the option to have a pass key.
The problem with that it others may have access to your folders.
  • even with the security options at minimum it still requests the passkey.
In fact I don't see anything in the options list that indicates it can be turned off

Your mobile or the laptop? Maybe your mobile has a Default pass key.

Try 0000, 9999 or 1234. One of them are often used as standard.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

Put any 4 digits in and then the same on the other devicde when prompted. It's not a preset thing, it's a measure used when making the connection to prove it's genuine. Normally you only have to do it once, to make the "pairing".
