Item smelt of stale fags - what to do

I have bought a DVD on ebay and when it arrived it stank of stale fags, so bad that I've had to leave the dvd in the envelope it arrived in in my garage as I can't stand the smell.
What do you people think I should do?

Email the seller and say you're not happy, maybe even offer to send it back for a refund. Would also check the listing to see if it had "from a smoke and pet-free home" in it, which would add a touch of irony to your feedback......£2 Savers Club 2016 #21 £14/£250

Its plastic, you could take out the paper inserts and wash the thing?
...just don't use a metal pot scourer on the disc

Did you ask the seller if the dvd was coming from a smoke/pet free home before you bought the item??
A lot of ebay sellers are just 'normal' people selling their unwanted items from home in order to make some extra cash, and not running any sort of business from their home. People do smoke in their homes, and probably don't realise how the odour of smoke clings to things.
If it was coming from an ebay business seller then you would be right to demand a refund. For future reference when buying from private sellers, it would probably pay you to ask about smoke/pets in the home before you actually buy the item then at least you will have some comeback if the item arrives and IS NOT as described.0 -
It was from a biz and had "in great condition" in the listing.
I have emailed the seller to see what they think.
(the same happened when I bought an earlier dvd in the series - but on that occassion it was a private seller and I wasn't as tired and irritable so I let it go and just didn't leave feedback.)0 -
Surely the smell can't be that strong
It's not like it's an item of clothing! Just give it a wipe! 0 -
Oh it can. Some plastics can really absorb smells- we had a job lot of games controllers that nearly made me gag they were that bad. It's quite a few months on and I've tried cleaning them with alcohol based perfumes (which is great for discs by the way OP- just check it's not oil basedSurely the smell can't be that strong

and apply with a very soft cloth), dettol neutraliser spray, lemon juice, basically everything I could get my hands on... and you can still tell as soon as you pick one of them up where it came from.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.
