thanks everyone.
mr mob dont work wednesdays. i should be going back to work in december but i really dont want to. i love my job but the management are just a nightmare and the atmosphere there is really uncomfortable and even more so now so my mate who works there told me.
my doctor has agreed to certify me for the next 6 months if i wish so i can claim IB. i could go back on that indefinately but am not sure if i want to be on benefits for the rest of my life though it would be easier on my health. anyways, work have to keep my job open for me and i can make a decision to leave at any time. There's someone in my head, but it's not me0 -
Hi I'm not sure if you have Betterware in your area but I did it a couple of years ago and I'm sure there was no outlay at all. I remember I earnt a fair bit from it as well - few hours work a week for £350ish a month. Also check out your free paper as they are always wanting people to deliver yellow pages etc.
Or you could take in peoples ironing - just advertise in your local free add paper - I know its not glamorous but its easy to do while watching tv. Do you know anyone that needs their child looking after for a few hours?
Do you go to a baby group where you could ask if anyone needs their child looking after for a few hours? (I was amazed that after 6 months of going to toddlers there was somone who lived two streets away that needed their child looking after for 4 hours a week-wouldn't have known if i hadn't asked around and now it earns me a little bit each week and means my son has a playmate for a few hours)
I was in the same position as you a few months ago and now through odd little jobs that I've mainly got through asking around and can do when my son is in bed it means that I earn enough so I can stay at home with him.
None of it will earn you millions but it will keep the wolves from the door. As long as you keep everything above board with child tax claims etc.0 -
Hi, When my children were younger i've done various jobs....
Bettaware - but I didn't earn very much for the hours I put in, I'm not sure if it was just my round or whether its like that in general.
Avon - a little better earner
Homework - making up birthday cards and popping them in plastic bags..look in the phone book and ring up. Thats what I did and at busy times (which seemed to be pretty often) they'd give me a ring and I'd collect them. You don't earn much but I used to set my dining table up with the tv in the front of me in the evening or when the little ones were napping.
I also used to put bath salts in boxes which I made up...a bit too smelly though and gave me headaches. But both jobs I got by ringing local companies up and suggesting it to them, so this could work for many jobs...i.e. typing (perhaps there is a self employed person who would require a couple of hours a week..i.e. invoices/quotes etc), packing anything.
Cleaning - I used to do a ladies cleaning for 2 hours a week and then her friend and it began to snowball a little too much. People like to know they are having reliable people in their home, so word of mouth is good.
Childminding - have you thought about this?
Supermarket twilight shift - I used to work 8-12 but many do earlier hours too
Can you sew?...advertise that you can make curtains?...alterations?
Childrens parties ...One summer I advertised organising childrens parties in their own home. Face painting and mask making.....princess make over parties (just lots of glitter/mirrors/hairbands etc.) The library normally has books to help you with this. I used to earn about £20 a party which isnt mind blowing but it certainly made a difference.
Hobbies?...do you have any hobbies that you could generate work from...good at photography? (I know of someone who has a not so special digital camera and takes photos outside in a local park of families/children..and has set up a mini studio in her dining room...two hooks on the wall where she hands different colour roller blinds up as a back drop and sheets of tin foil.........good at knitting?....flower arranging?..either make in your home or phone a florist and ask when they are busy i.e. a day of a wedding you'd come in for a few hours......cooking see if any cafes/restaurants wish to purchase homemade cakes/biccies on a regular basis?...even homemade jams, pickles...homemade christmas cakes (you'll have to check on the health and safety of this though)...writing Offer to write best man speeches (just ask for details they wish to include)....poems for special occasions....local newspapers....short stories for magazines?...articles for mags?
Party plani.e. Dorling Kingsley books, Usbourne, Anne Summers, etc.
Hope I've been a little help..I managed to stay at home with four children for 19 years by doing a combination of jobs to keep a little money coming in.0 -

sorry, forgot, does anyone know of a reputable child modelling company? or would that make me a terrible mother?
make her earn her keep (that is a joke btw)There's someone in my head, but it's not me0 -
Hi,
Have a look at this company - https://www.phoenixtrading.com. They sell greeting cards, wrapping paper, advent calendars etc through people - "distributers" instead of in shops. They encourage you to do as much or as little as you like. Some people do things like Christmas Fairs at schools etc, or you can just sell to friends and neighbours.
I did it for a while - it would work really well I think but my heart wasnt in it really. A friend of mine does really well with it though and there are some great success stroies. It's network marketing, so basically, you can (but only if you want to - there's no pressure), recruit other people and then you earn extra money from their profits too! lol :rotfl:
You can sell at mother and toddle groups etc - anywhere really!
Hope it helps.Funky :A0 -
Child modeling agencies frequently ask for money up front (sometimes rather alot)0
