It makes no difference, except you won't need to find £510.

Dalip, when difficulties first struck i had been working on a self employed basis and spent time working in the middle east where my troubles started after ending up in hospital and having a very expensive operation. being unable to walk at the time cost me my job and left me stranded. On returning to the uk i was told that i could not claim any income support.

The reason i asked is that if (even if it is only JSA)you have money available to pay "family members" then you can be seen to "support" yourself up to a point. If no income,no benefits and you rely totally on family now...after bc will be no different. Therefore your bc could be refused on the grounds that it would serve no real purpose as you would still be insolvent regardless. Am i making sense:o?Dx

The BR would get rid of the current debt and stress. Why don't you phone one of the debt charities who will go through all of your options with you. Contact details in Dalip's signature above. How much is your debt and what is it made of ie credit cards/loans etc?

If you go bankrupt you are allowed to have an income if you are able/decide to get a job.
