EDF - So angry!!
This is more to rant than anything but man I am so p*ssed off!
We moved into our 1 bedroom property a year and a half ago and decided to stick with the energy provider of the previous occupant, EDF. So the account was setup and we agreed to pay £30 per month for gas and electricity based on the property, which has no central heating and one gas appliance (cooker). The bills for this period came in at just over £120 per quarter, so slightly out but nonetheless not astronomical. Apparently these were estimated readings, though I know for a fact that I gave them a reading on more than 1 occasion.
Anywhow, I have just spoken with EDF and our past 2 quarterly bills (estimated, shock!) have come in at £270 per quarter (not including gas!). so I spoke with a very unhelpful Customer Services rep a few moments ago, who said that these bills are based on a reading given by to them by NPower (we moved to them for 6 weeks when my partner got collared in the street). They agreed this reading was inaccurate and requested a second one from NPower. Again I think this is inaccurate.
She said that a correct reading was taken by them in June, and that means that the bill in June for the previous quarter is accurate. I argue how the f*ck it can be accurate when you have no reading, and that rpevious quarter was estimated. She said this is because we took a reading in June - I like how the hell can a reading in June tell you what we used in April and May?!!
So I have told her that I will give her a reading today and that this should give ehr an indication of our usage between June and today, and hopefully this can help to correct the bills from the previous period, though I accept usage will change each month but perhaps not to such a degree they are estimating each quarter!
£90 per month in 1 bed house with no heating sound right though?
