Paypal account

Hey all,

Im looking to use paypal with my online store. I've looked into the types of account they have and can't decide between the personal or business:

Personal

Business - Web Payments Standard
https://www.paypal-business.co.uk/website-payments-standard-what-it-costs.asp

The transaction charges are the same. Do I need to be registered as a business for the Business account? Or is the personal account good enough?

Thanks

SB

If you are only selling on ebay, then a Premier account is needed - a personal only allows a small number of sales before you have to convert to premier - which lies between personal and business.

If you have your own website, then I believe you need a business account to integrate with your shopping cart - premier accounts wont do that.

The business account simply has more information for the customer, such as contact details for queries. The business account also allows more functionality such as creating your shopping cart or payment buttons.

  • i'll be selling mainly on my own website but will move to ebay also. I already have a shopping cart plugin on my site to handle adding items to the cart etc. Its just the payment that i need to get sorted. I think premier might be suitble.

i've just come across the types of account you mentioned on the paypal site:
