Overdraft protection & Account Fee

Hi. I am with Barclays (though for not much longer I hope), and for a number of years I have been charged an Account Fee of £12 and an Overdraft Protection Fee of £8 each calendar month. On top of this each time I went over my overdraft limit, even for a £1, I got the standard letter costing me £22, For years I was dumb enough to fail to check my statements and bills which lead to spiralling debt. Hands up to being my fault for that. Thankfully my wife has set me straight and am on the long slog back to sorting myself out. As well as trying to claim back the overdraft letter costs over this period, am I able to ask for a claim for the other fees? At the time I just signed a bit of paper in order and asked no questions, as I really didnt understand what it was about and they made it sound so great (a case of mis-selling?). I never used the facilities they offered with the account fee, and what point is Overdraft Protection fee if they still charge? Thank you for any help or guidance.

Unfortunately, it is up to you whether you use the benefits or not. After several years the only way you could claim any back is if you can show that it was impossible for you to make use of them ie car breakdown cover, but you don't drive, mobile phone insurance, but you've never had a mobile phone etc

and what point is Overdraft Protection fee if they still charge?
