Damp spot in cupboard between chimney & outside wall

Hi All

I don't know if this is the right place or not but I am hoping someone can help.

We moved in to our new house at the weekend and noticed a damp mould spot in the cupboard where our electric meater is. The cupboard is located between the chimney breast and outside wall.

This spot isn't massive but there is a definite damp smell in that corner of the living room... I was wondering what the best way to remove it would be?

I've checked the rest of the house and that is all fine, no smells and I can't see any more damp areas.

There does appear to be gaps in the chimney breast and wall - would filling them help???

Thanks
Clare
