Car Wires loom Burnt and ECU
My friends peugeot 307 has gone faulty and on diagnosis from Peugeout they have said that some 9 inchs of wire loom has been burnt and the ECU has gone.
Given that the wire loom has been burnt, there been some sort of fire and people have suggest that this is a claim with the insurance as there has been fire damaged (however small), which damged the wires and the ECU.
Is this valid, my freind has contacted their insurere once but said no, but should we go back with a firmer hand, as a fire is a fire which damaged the wires and ECU and it should be covered on insurance.
Please your views?

The fire was obviously caused by an electrical fault. The fire, or melting wires, was a result of another problem it didn't cause the problem. I think your friend is on sticky ground trying to claim it's fire damage. Sorry.0
