When I did a RTW, I looked at RTW tickets starting from the US, UK and Italy. Turns out if you started in Italy it was something like 30% cheaper that from US/UK (which were comparable). So we could buy a return to Milan or Rome, and start your trip from there, maybe spend a couple of days in a European country and still come out well ahead air fare wise.
This kind of arbitrage might not be available anymore, I don't know. You do need to call airlines directly (travel agents may not be interested in cooperating on this type of research) or use their websites/tools, if they will price this kind of itinerary. And you need to luck out and find a nice and helpful telesales person. But for us, it turned out to be really worth it.0 -
Cheap flights around Singapore? You could walk around Singapore.
For 'low cost' flights out of Singapore, look at http://www.tigerairways.com/, http://www.jetstarasia.com/, http://www.valuair.com/ and http://www.airasia.com/0
