Do any Landlords accept DSS, LHA anymore???

I am looking to rent a 3 bedroomed property in the Oldham area but am finding that properties that accept DSS or Local Housing Alowance are far and few between!!!
And the fact that I have pets well I have no chance:eek:
Does anyone know any websites I can find properties that accept DSS,LHA on? (I have tried all the usual estate agents)
I am currently in a council house but looking to move off the estate I have two young children and a baby on the way and it's just too dam noisey I also have a neigbour that has a dog that barks constantly (I have tried complaing but it just doesn't work).
Any help would be greatly appreciated

DSS tenants require higher insurance premiums, hence many landlords won't consider them.
Try looking for adverts in newsagent windows, or gumtree.
Why don't you throw some biscuits over the fence for the dog? Or offer to walk him? He's probably barking because he's bored.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')

Does your council have a list of properties/ landlords which accept DSS/LHA?
When I worked in lettings before having my first child, we found that we got 1 in 10 landlords that would accept DSS but thoses properties\always went very quickly, normally on first or second viewings.
Additionally, pets always used to bump up the bond by £100, what types of animals do you have?
Try and make friends with a few letting agents, we did have a DSS tenant list and when a property came on we'd call them, with priority given to those who'd stayed in touch with us.

Sorry to hear you story...
Be very cautious about giving up your Council Tenancy: They have 3 very significant advantages...
a) They give you more security than any other current type (better than Housing Assoc, way-way-way better than Private Landlord)
b) They are usually significantly cheaper than Private Landlord. (I'm a private LL!)
c) You can move (as SouthCoast suggests - transfer list).
Would it not be better to follow through on the problems with the neighbour?? Involve MP.MEP. Councillors & Police & Council housing department... Why should someone else have to put up with the little s**t???
(Some) Private Landlords do accept DSS/HB/LHA but you are unlikely to get the best properties, will only have 6 months security of tenure, rent will probably be higher than for non-DSS & you may need

Contact your housing officer, i wouldn't give up a secure tenancy before id looked at all other options.
You could look at a mutual exchange - i see adverts all the time for mutual exchanges.
your neighbor with the noisy dog may be in breach of their tenancy - my tenancy has a specific clause about pet nuisance - again talk to your estates housing officer0 -

I have my own dogs to look after so this isn't an option, it's unfortunate that this dog doesn't have responsible owners0 -

Most of the Landlords on there are private ones, so no letting agent fee's, and they tell you on the adverts if they accept housing benefit.0
