now if you were up to claiming all this money, surely you knew when you were not entitled to it?Also my mum does all my childcare and I pay her £1200 a month via child care element of WTC. If I were to take a paid job , will they WTC still pay my mums wages or will I have to? I do not want to take my dear mum 'down' with me. She retired from a well paid job to look after my kids and cannot afford to be 'sacked' by me - she would lose evrything too.
£100 overpaid, maybe £1000 overpaid, i can accept..... but THIRTY THOUSAND POUNDS?0 -
"Also my mum does all my childcare and I pay her £1200 a month via child care element of WTC."
Hold on, I am a childminder and I earn £600 a month tops for a full timer so I hope thaat's a quote for 2 children.
Also I hope your mum is a registered childminder with ofsted otherwise you should not be claiming any childcare payment help.0 -

wftc only pay 70% i thought, so is £1200 PCM 100% or the WFTC element at 70%?0 -

Well this post is going to pee of those judgmental few who believe the tax mans purse is all theirs!! Seems to be plenty of you on this so so supportive board!!
We have this very arrangement and I couldn't work without it. Granny (my mum) has trained and registered as an ofsted approved childminder. I am self employed and work long antisocial hours. We are entitled to £1200 in child care element per month so that is how I pay mum. The kids go to her house and she also looks after a non related child 2 mornings a week. She offers me complete flexibility, sometimes the kids stay over and she gets paid accordingly.
All above board and very fair - she works hard for the money believe you me! I say to anyone go for it - my mum retired from her well paid job to do this and it is worth her while and totally fair play.0 -
Haddit....some advice?

A childminder cannot be paid to look after children related to her and receive payment for it whether she is registered or not.
So as you have clearly failed to declare she was your mother and/or she is/isn't a registered childcare provider you have claimed the childcare element of WTC fraudulently. There used to be a street named after Chuck Norris, but it was changed because nobody crosses Chuck Norris and lives.0 -

The absolute maximum is 80% therefore OP must have given them figures of that amount to 1200 being the whole amount less 30% or a random amount and be paying his mum whatever they had agreed to pay him. There used to be a street named after Chuck Norris, but it was changed because nobody crosses Chuck Norris and lives.0 -

Grandparents BABYSIT (- occasionally), what happens when they still need to work, as not uncommon today, when the parents may only be in thier 20's and GPs could be in thier 40/50's....0 -
