Apple Imac overheating and hanging?

Hi all,
was just wondering if anyone else had a 24" Apple Imac and has had any problems with it getting hot and hanging/freezing? At the moment the only way we seem to be able to use ours without it hanging is to have the big floor fan standing behind it to cool it! Then if we turn the fan off, the computer starts hanging again. Has this happened to anyone else? And if so how did you fix it, or did you send it back to Apple to sort out?

A squirt of compressed air into the vents on the back might improve matters (to dislodge any dust collecting there and blocking the air flow), but if not, contacting Apple is probably your best bet.0

Is the fan powering up when it gets warm? Sounds like it isn't. You really need to get it sorted PDQ, as you will do permanent damage if you continue to run it hot.No free lunch, and no free laptop
