HDTV & Speakers

I am planning to get an HDTV sometime next month for my bedroom lol... Anyhow, I have homed down to the Sony Bravia 46w5500 or 46V5500 or 40z4500 (onld generation sony) or Samsung 40B7020 (the LED TV)... Basically, they are about £1k... I was reading about the LED TV but they seem to only have the advantage of being slim... And to connect to the internet, I seem to read that you need to buy the wireless dongle which would cost £50 extra... I read that the difference between the 46v and 46w is the 100Hz refresh rate on the W... the 40Z I'm not too sure... the new Z series I think is a little too expensive for me @ £1.3k... the only advantage with that I belive is 200hz refresh rate which I read is not very noticeable anyway... Anyone got any inputs/ experience of the TVs above i asked about ?
Also, I am planning to wire the TV to some bookshelf speakers... I am just going to get some cheap speakers B&W 602 S3 off ebay... I was reading about the recommended amplifiers... The one which seems to be of choice was the Cambridge Audio 640 @ about £250.... Then I was reading another review saying that you can hook up an Arcam A85 with the OPTION of having an Arcam P90 with it as a power amp? If I just bought a Cambrudge Audi 640, would I need to buy anything extra other than the cables to hook the speakers up to the TV? Is it possible to just hook the Speakers up straight to the TV without having to bother with an amp ? :T:T

Since no one has answered: so your getting an expensive tv and want cheap sound?
Myself I'd ether go to Richer sound and have a look around. Or John Lewises for the 'free' 5 year waranty.
Although side by side you will see a difference, in a room since there is no difference you wil not be able to compare and probably notice nothing.
Richer Sounds often do good deals on speakers and offer theatre systems setups. It may const you nothing to go there and ask people whom deal with this stuff on a daily basis0 -
tv ~ all the tvs are very good. Id personally side on the sony z series....BUT....they do sometimes have 'backlight' isues (ALL the sonys). So if you do get one make sure theyre aware of the issue and you want a complete 'replacement' if yours has the problem. Id also be looking at richer sounds as a starting point
You need an amp to drive the speakers
Im slighlty baffled with the makes as the Arcam A85+ is an awesome amp (I have one but upgraded to something else so wondering what to do with it). Its FAR better than the cambridge, but its kinda pointless bi-amping with the P85 with cheap speakers. Thats for high end audio of which your clearly not going to get through the tv.
Personally id buy a cheap amp and speakers making sure the amp has plenty of inputs and plug each device in seperately (the dvd player, sky etc):idea:0 -

Thanks for your reply - what would you recommend as an amp then ?:p0 -
Ive no problem with a cambridge amp if your willing to pay for it:idea:0

What do you mean bi-amping ? Do I NEED to have 2 amps or can I just get a TV which connects to the amp and the amp connects to the speakers? I take it I cannot connect those speakers to the TV directly without an amp right? What 'cheap' amp would you recommend with those speakers?0

Bi-amping certainly isnt 'needed' so we'll leave that one there
The one you posted would be fine. Simply plug the 'phono out' of the tv into any inputs on the amp (aux for example)
The only thing im unsure of is if all the tvs HAVE phono outs. If not then youd need a home cinema amp to be able to accept an optical connection (Most decent tvs have one or the other or both):idea:0 -
Sorry for the slightly OT answer but are you sure you want a 46" TV in your bedroom? Optimum viewing distance for this size screen is 11-12 feet...
Back on topic, why not buy a packaged surround sound system including a blu-ray player?
For general TV advice you are much better off posting here
