Paid every 4 weeks

We are a one income family at the moment and it arrives every 4 weeks. I find this really awkward to manage rather than a set "pay day". The DD's come out mostly on the 15th but some refuse to be moved so it is hard to keep track........or am I just looking for excuses that is ;) a possibility!

it is hard, we have payments like that as well, I have a filofax/diary and mark them in every 4 weeks, and I love the month where you get 2 payments (eg on the 2nd and on the 30th of the month) I do keep track of all the Direct Debits as well, I write everything down, I am afraid, only way I can keep track of it all really and keep checking my account regularly.

I used to get paid like this but I liked it, 13 pay days a year!
Finally, I can see you crystal clear
  • I am paid 4 weekly too. I don't like it either. I do have an overdraft so everything gets paid. it is the only way I am sure that there will be money when they all help themselves a week before payday.

Ah yes the overdraft.......well now that's a story
  • Leave money in the bank to cover all the dd's up to the next payday and then take out what is left and work on a cash basis for the rest of the month.
Some people even find it easier to divide the cash up into weekly or even daily amounts.

I would have thought that was easier, as you get 13 payments per year instead of 12.

One reason I think this is because I used to live in a flat where the rent was per calendar month. I get paid per calendar month so everything was fine. Two years ago I moved into a council house and they want the rent weekly, but will accept it every 4 weeks. Some times I pay 4 weeks, but other times I have to pay five weeks to catch up.

If I got paid every 4weeks it would be fine. The bills that come in on the same day every month would be fine to, as I would always get paid before they are due. Also I would get one 4 week period where I don't need to pay the bills. because I would get paid 13 times per year, but only get 12 bills per year.
  • I used to get paid weekly and that was such a pain, but a couple of years ago they changed it to monthly and i find it sooooooo much easier! My hubby though gets paid every 4 weeks, and although the extra payday month is fab, it is a pain! i'd choose monthly every time if i was given a choice!!

hubby has an overdraft so the bills get paid, but monthly pid i would find a lot easier to budget!
  • Hiya I have 2 banks accounts - 1 for the bills and 1 for the rest. If you work out the months DD and just leave that money in it and transfer everything into your spending account there will always be enough money for the bills which ever day payday is. That would also give you 1 "bill free" payday a year.
