I'm getting the impression that you need to change your insurers every year to get the best deal. In January I changed my Contents Insurance from 'More Than' to 'Insure For Retirement' (underwriters Equity Red Star) cos they offered almost half price. Now my Buildings is due (Halifax - far too expensive) I thought I'd get…

Thank you all for your comments. I decided to go with Direct Line for my combined home & contents as they appear to be giving me the best deal and they are a well known name so are more likely to pay out if I make a claim (which I hope not) than someone who I've not heard of before. I shall worry about next year when renewal time comes around!
