getting rid of paint on garage wall - recommendations?

As the title suggests! The side of our garage has white flaking paint which looks awful. Can anyone recommend a product I can use to get rid of it? Obviously wire brush and elbow grease will also be needed but if anyone can recommend something which will make the job any easier I'd be very grateful!
