Old debt not in IVA?

hi all

i did an iva in 2006, and settled after borrowing some money off a family member.

i have just had a letter from an old debt in 1996 from abbey national.

what is my best course of action to deal with this? and how can they not send me any paperwork for 10 years plus,than out of the blue after selling this to a new company ask for the money?

if i had thought they were still after the money i would have added it to my iva in 2006, i thought it was written off as it was over 10 years old.
can they still chase me for this debt???

any advice is very much appreciated

They cannot chase you for this debt anyway as it is over 6 years old it is now statute barred as long as you have not acknlowledged the debt in that time.

Send them a statute barred letter, hopefully someone will come along with the template soon. So stop worrying about it. They cannot enforce this debt. They are trying it on.

can this be done with any debt 6 years old? i started my iva in 2004 and just last year a company came after me for a debt from 2003 which i know i paid orange but can't prove it. had i known this was going to be the case i could have included it in my iva. this company is quite threatening about the debt. so far i have just ignored them but am just coming to the end of iva because of f&f settlement and don't want to come out of it to have more debt problems, especially when i don't owe it!
