Glad you found the link useful. It's a problem that crops up often so you are not alone.

I *hate* flying, not because I'm scared, but because I find it so boring on long haul.

I know exactly how you feel this happened to me and I stopped flying for 4 years. Try this website http://www.scaredofflying.com/FearofflyingHome.asp i found the forums really good and I bought the book. I do fly now but with the help of beta blockers and diazepam but I am not ashamed about it I only need to take them on the day and it gets me through it. I still don't like it but after take off I do relax a bit more - take off I hate and until the stewards start moving around I am scared!

You lot are gonna hate me, but i'm going to say the following..

i love flying, the fear you all have is exactly as the OP say.. irrational.

i have an irrational fear of listening to people telling me about their dreams, it just freaks me out... on a couple of points..

I am off to Las Vegas next week and have one 8 1/2 hour flight to Philadelphia and another 5 1/2 hour flight on to Vegas and I am terrified!

I've done many flights to PHL, and it is a big plane, plenty of places to walk around, and it isn't a tiny plane. Also, not one of the flights lasted 8 1/2 hours to get to PHL from MAN, they always seemed to get in early.

as for the flight across from PHL to Vegas, well it'll be a smaller plane, but probably still bigger than what people are used to flying to tenerife, or ibiza etc etc.

I'm off to New York on Thursday, and am trying to forget about what could go wrong

sorry i'm useless help, but, if anyone wants to tell me their dream from last night, i'm sure how that makes me feel is how you feel when on a plane..
