I wouldnt buy it personally, however it does seem good for the price, however it has Vista Basic, which means you wont have areo graphics!:beer:In My 'Permanant' Pre-Masters Gap Year

No, not for me either, it's an eMachine for start. Vista Basic. Sounds like old stock.
Researched PcPro mag for you and their recommendation is the Acer Aspire 5735 584G25Mn (£348 + vat, look around for a better price today)

Very overpriced for that spec, Vista basic, only 2GB RAM, and a Celeron processor. As said above, it's an old model. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Too late guys I waited around on here about 20 mins for any replies and didn't get any so I bought it, I don't know what 'areo graphics' are anyway. As long as it turns on, works and hooks up to the internet and will run Word then that's all I need. It's for my 16 year old for xmas and to be honest I thought 2gig ram and 2 year guarantee was great for the price seeings as my home computer i'm on right now only has 512mb ram and that's enough for me. This computer I'm on now only has 40gig hard drive so this laptop seemed a good one. I would rather of had windows XP coz that's what we're used to but I'm sure that getting a laptop for xmas she will be stoked and it was just over my budget of £300 so I'm happy enough and any probs it's covered for 2 years but thanks anyway guys. Oh and John Lewis has good reputation too.

Hmm, you don't exactly believe in doing some research beforehand, do you?
That spec will do the job, but with a Celeron processor and Vista Basic it will not be futureproofed too well.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Er actually I did online searches through reevoo.com, came on here and checked out cheap laptop hunt and also did lots of ebay and google stuff over the space of about THREE weeks so yes I did do a lot of research and in fact twice asked in the great laptop hunt forum for someone to help me find a laptop for sub £300 or close to that but no one answered me. So I did research if you'd of asked me that I would of told you but you just assumed I was some thick don't look before I leap bimbo :mad:Hmm, you don't exactly believe in doing some research beforehand, do you?

I didn't make any assumption whatsoever, your reaction is completely out of proportion. I only commented, as have others, that 20 minutes is hardly giving people on this forum a chance to respond.
And if you'd done your research over 3 weeks then you'd know that a Celeron processor indicates a laptop that is not really current spec.
Would it not have been worth waiting a few weeks so you could get it with Windows 7 installed? No free lunch, and no free laptop
