Help & advice needed please

I have sold an item on Ebay and am delighted that it has sold. But it has sold to a buyer who is apparently based in the USA and has no feedback. My auction was set to only sell in the UK. So questions:

1) I have checked and the buyers address is definately USA (the Bronx!) So what do I say to the buyer?
2) Do I immediately offer the item to the second highest bidder?
3) Am I actually worrying for nothing?

It is quite a high value item.

Big thanks in advance for your help.

  • That happens sometimes - I usually send a polite email with the US postage charge plus a good mark up for your hassle and all is usually OK.

Yeh, ask him if he will be willing to pay for postage to his house. If he is, no problem, otherwise just refund him and sell it again.
Total payment recieved from GPT etc as June: £0.00

You need to set your seller preferences to block bidders from countries you don't ship to. Then you will avoid this problem in the future

    I have - at least I thought I had.

He has now paid - including £40 for postage. It still all seems odd to me.

If the item is under 2KG use Airsure small packets as this tracks to the door.

Problem solved - I was totally right to be suspicious. The e-mail I received from Paypal was fraudulent. I checked my Paypal account and of course there was no money from him. Then when I went back to Ebay it was confirmed that the Ebayer is no longer registered with them. So it was a scam. I am very pleased I clearly have very good instincts! I have now offered it as a Second Chance to the second highest bidder and will open a dispute with the scammer so I get my fees back.

    Alls well that ends well.

Thanks to those that responded. It is appreciated.
