Car price

Hi

Probably against my better judgement, I bought a car yesterday. It's a Honda Accord 2.2 CDTi-Executive, it's the top spec one with full leather, etc on an 06 plate with 64k on the clock with FSH. I paid £9,800 for it from a Honda dealer.

I woke up this morning feeling somewhat down about the whole thing and I don't know why - normally I do a lot of research about things before buying and it must have been the excitement of the whole thing but I feel a bit uneasy and I'm kicking myself inside.

Can you either re-assure me or is there anything I can do to cancel if I've bought a dud or paid over the odds? I paid £4,000 deposit and am financing the rest.. pick it up Tuesday.

Thanks

  • looks to be about standard retail price from a Honda dealer.

Non Honda prices for same vehicle and similar mileage look to be £7800.

Looks like you paid top money

It may be worth a visit back today and say you have had second thoughts, particularly on price. You should be able to negotiate a hefty reduction?

Indeed, it does seem to be about the going rate for a Honda Main Dealer car of that type/age/mileage.

Probably too late to start negotiating now, negotiations should have taken place before putting a huge deposit on the car.;)

Worth a try I suppose, but I am not too optimistic.

Do I have any rights to pull out of the deal entirely?

Only you will know that, it depends very much on the contract.

Why not ring the dealer and ask them?.

Well I've not got any rights to pull out, but the guy was quite understanding when I said I'd found them cheaper, but said they were all non-auction demonstrator/internal Honda use cars which are serviced meticulously and looked after (the existing owner is Arnold Clarke Honda) so I guess it's better than buying a shed from CarCraft for £1,000 cheaper.... isn't it?!

He also said I can get a warranty if I am worried about things going wrong, which he assured me they don't on Honda Accords!

    Good good...

06 plate ones are quite available for 8000 notes!

why did the salesman say a warranty is available, yet he assured you they don't go wrong...? I think the FSA would like to know...

go back and tell them you don't want it as you can't afford the insurance or it doesnt fit up your drive. Any nonsense will do.

then go buy one from elsewhere, apart from Car Shaft...

The first owner being A/c will just mean it was either a pool/staff car. So anyone could have driven it. Probably everywhere bouncing off its rev limiter.

As for Honda's not going wrong - ask them if they are still replacing engines at 12,000 miles due to lack of oil...
