Hiya
My laptop battery jack socket seems to be knackered. It seems to be getting a loose connection and flickering on and off. Wasn't too bad a first bit now it only stays on if I hold it in a certain way.
Where can I get a new jack socket for it? Its a 330 ECS laptop.
Also how easy is it to fit, or will I be getting daddy to do it?:o
Thank you

You could try one of the electronics components companies like "RS Electronics" (have a search on Google), but you'll probably have to solder it on to the motherboard or get someone to do that for you.
I reckon you could probably insert something known technically as a "pokey tool" into the dodgy socket and bend the metal contact to a more suitable position so that it makes a firm contact.... got to be worth a go before you rip it out! :-)0 -
I have tried the pokey tool (look at me using technical terms
) and made it loads better but doesnt seem to be doing the job anymore.
I tried doing a search for one earlier but couldnt find one for my laptop and wondered if there were any generic onesWork like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -
It may not be a faulty socket just a bad connection onto the motherboard and it may just need resoldering.
Also a common problem is the lead breaking where it joins onto the jack plug. Before getting the laptop apart it's worth ruling out the lead! The jack plugs are usually moulded so impossible to repair, but you can cut the lead back and get a new plug from Maplin or RS (https://www.rswww.com) etc.0 -
Hi sorry to bump this again.
The problem seems to be happening more when the lappy is switched on, when its switched off and on charge its ok (intermitent sometimes but not bad on the whole)
Any ideas?Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -
Alright then does anyone know how much it will cost to repair it, the lead has now snapped because of constanly having to be wiggled into place.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0
