Traffic Cops for "Supposed Offence"

Hi guys,
Today when walking home from the pub I was stopped by the police for "urinating in the street", ok I'll admit on here I was about to, against a lampost, but they got me before I committed the crime!
anyway they had the adress of the street down wrong until I stupidly corrected them (I know what was I thinking!)
anway I have a £40 fine to pay for a fine I did not commit, I'll admit I was about to commit it but didn't actually, is there a way to appeal against the fine as the traffic cops have spelt my name wrong after copying it off my licence!
They also gave my friend a hard time for not wakling on and waiting for me, I know we sound like scumbags, but in all honest they didn't catch me braking the law, they caught me just before I did, plus my friend didn't do anything wrong apart from standing their for them to accuse him of confronting them
sorry I know I'm being dickish, but would you pay the fine or appeal it?
thanks in advance

If it was out, they should have. Even the intention of doing it is disgusting.
If it was out think yourself lucky your not being charged with indecent exposure, outraging public decency,
etc, etc. etc. and having a criminal record.
Just pay the fine,it'll make you think twice before you think about doing it again.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Why didn't you go while you were in the pub?
Pay the fine0 -
I guess you had your old boy out??? its a charge for urinating in public place or indecent exposure..I know which I would take0

Why do you have 2 threads going for the same thing, OMG you didnt do it twice did you?make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

I think I'd be inclined to fight it. After all, they don't stop motorists that look like they're about to speed, or nick people that look like they might go shoplifting....If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0

I got done for "attempted speeding" once.
The cop said if I diddnt have such a carp car I would have made it too.:D“Careful. We don't want to learn from this.”0 -

S.24 PACE states constable may arrest without warrant anyone who is about to commit an offence, anyone in the act of committing an offence.
Whilst not as crude as your examples im sure from what OP has said it was quite obvious that he was about to committ an offence.0 -
Urinating in the street is a by law and not a notifiable offence.
If your old chap was out you are bloody lucky u didnt get dont for exposure or a public order offence ..
They charged you with the correct offence . pay the fine , us a toilet next time
lesson learnt , drunkeness is no excuse .ONE HOUSE , DS+ DD Missymoo Living a day at a time and getting through this mess you have created. One day life will have no choice but to be nice to me :rotfl:0 -
By your own admission, you had every intention of committing the offence; however, the traffic officer was quick enough to prevent you from executing it. So, why do you feel the need to our appeal for our sympathies? Do you think you have the right to foul the pavements?0
