In the past I've flown to New Zealand with Air New Zealand and the price was very competitive at the time, not sure what it's like now though.

I was suprised - when I went the cheapest price I got was with Thoms cook - in the shop - klm from Heathrow, then malasian airlines from Holland....£680 in the first week of the summer holidays!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I flew from Heathrow to NZ this time last year, direct with Qantas.
But I found it was about £50 cheaper to fly into Wellington and then get an internal Air New Zealand flight up to Auckland. I'm glad I did it this way as I thought Wellington was beautiful but found Auckland a bit of a dump in comparison.Murphy's No More Pies Member No. 28 on hold0
