tiny little fly things

Options
This year i have noticed a massive amount of these tiny little fly things, every morning my window sills are covered in them it is a huge pain. Any idea what they are and how to stop them other than keeping the windows closed it is far to hot for that.

That could be anything from a moth to a weavel beetle. Could you take a pic of them, so we can give you a more accurate answer
Never do things tomorow when you can do them today.

Not a clue as to what they are - lots of little beasties about at this time of year. I swear by insect nets on my windows and doors, so that they can be left opened.
You can buy them, think I got original from Betterware or Kleeneze. However, to save money - get a roll of stick on velcro, buy some tight-weaved netting from fabric shop, or use old net curtains. Attach velcro to window frame, cut net to size and attach to velcro - no need to put velcro on net. No need to cover whole window frame, only window opening area - does that make sense? ??? Best of luck anyway! ;)

I don't know what the little pests are, but they were a real nuisance yesterday while walking at the coast.
GMTV have done a feature on them this morning, so they must be everywhere.

You can get inexpensive 'insect-o-cutor' devices - with blue lamps like you see in the local butchers.

I bought one from Maplin and it works quite well. The light attracts them and them BLAM they get electrocuted by a low voltage electrified grill. All quite safe if you have kiddies around.

Go to https://www.maplin.co.uk, type insect into the search engine and you'll see what I mean.

    Hope this helps

I leave doors open all day. I bought some of the netting stuff they use on the swimming pools in Florida. Its very cheap if you happen to be passing by on holiday.

I use two thin battens at the sides with electrical grommets on top. This works really well as there is a little bit of give in the battens and the grommets stop it slipping.

yes weve got a screen up as well

what is it with moths anyway

they must hover outside dark windows all bloody night saying "put the light on aww go on put the light on pleeeeeese put the light on" and the second you put the light on dive through the window and flap round the room causing hysteria.

Worst experience was in a hotel by a lake in Geneva. There is a warning not to open the patio doors at night. Back then I was a smoker and a colleague opened them for about 3 seconds.

Whoooosh - the entire ceiling was covered in these little back insects that did not look too hospitable. Honestly, it was like something from a horror film. You looked up and then backed out of the room slowly.

The hotel had fly spray in cans about the size of a fire extinguisher. Talk about chemical warfare!!

  • Worth checking any work tops made of chip board, damp tops can attract a tiny fly that lives on the resin. vapona style block fly killer worked for me. Until we changed the worktops.
