british gas v southern electric
just recently swaoed my gas provider from bg to sothern elec,phoned bg today to confirm of change but the lady said south elec are putting prices up 33% from 1st may,now shes sown doubts in mind,even if they put there prices up 33% they might still be cheaper than bg,what u think?

I don't know whrtr the 33% came from. I am a Southern Electric dual fuel customer and have the current and the post Mau figures.
Electric first 364 kWh pq up 14% others up 17%
Gas the first 1143 kWh pq up 16% others up 25%
The figures in energy helpline appear reasonablyaccurate as far as I can see.0 -

For my region- Southern
Electricity incl VAT first 364 units p.q. 13.59p
Other units 8.98p
Gas incl VAT first 1143 kWh p.q. 3.32p
Other kWh 2.45p
Gas dual fuel costs are approx 4% lower.
Monthly DD payers get 6% discount0 -
BTW Southern has staed - no futher increases in 2006. The estra charge for customers using non Transco pipes is abolished.0
