E-on Energy Server R1 Deal?

Hi I am comting to the end of my current deal with Eon (ends 1st Oct) and they have offered to automatically transfer me to the EnergySAver R1 deal.

I want to do a comparison to see if this new rate is the best rate available to me across the board but when I went on the comparison site that Martin recommends it does not have the Eon R1 deal to compare with?

Any suggestions how I can get a true comparison please?

Thanks
KM

Sorry KM but you will have to do a manual comparison.

The R1 version of your Energy Saver tariff is only available to customers already on Energy Saver tariffs.

As the R1 tariff is not generally available it will not appear on comparison websites.

Hope this explains why you can't see the tariff on the comparison sites.

I'm in the same position as you and frustrated that I can't use the comparison sites. If anyone from the switching sites are reading can you think about adding "input the rates I've been quoted" option? Buying energy seems to be the most mind boggling transaction.

There is another thread on these forums about this (can't link it because I'm fairly new to the boards but I'm sure a search will find it)
My quick summary of the thread: Decide if you still want to be fixed/capped?
If you do use the comparison sites and then manually compare the results to the quoted price.
If you don't want to fix/cap again for now just use the sites, non fixed will be cheaper at the moment. Of course it's the same as ever, prices can go up (as well as down? ;-) ) so it's for you to decide if you can afford to take the gamble or if you'd rather pay extra now for the peace of mind that it won't go up.

For what it's worth I'm going to look for a cheaper charge for now....

(why do I have to spend my life knowing about all of this when there's a whole world out there to explore? - Surely there's a better way...)

It's called "confusion marketing", all the big ones do it for energy, mobile phone contracts, insurance. They rely on the fact that you make a mistake and make the wrong choice. Just look at this forum someone switches from a supplier for a better deal then someone else goes to the first supplier for what they think is a better deal. If their was a good deal surely we'd all be knocking on the same door. We're all running round in circles and that's just how they like it.

Transparency and simplicity is what we want, but we'll never get it.
  • The letter you had from EON gives the price of the new tariff on the rear. Just compare that with other suppliers.
