You could try buying the chinese curry powder from farmfoods or local chinese supermarkets. It is only £1 and tastes like the chip shop and lasts ages.

Tescos is 4p. I dont find that expensive.
    What Would Bill Buchanan Do?
  • the OP said it had gone up to 48p.

You just need to keep an eye on it as the price goes up and down on lots of value products I've found, the most I've seen curry sauce for is 17p but I didn't buy it then as I'd stocked up when it was 4p. A few weeks later it was back down to 4p again :)

Is 48p expensive? ,tbh ive tried the sauce and its awful .Curry Queen has a great recipe for curry ,its a bit labour intensive when you make up the onion base , but that does make 4 portions ,its really just onions garlic and a few spices ,but makes a far better saucethen any you can buy
Vuja De - the feeling you'll be here later
  • I just use it as a base add chicken,a few peppers, mushrooms and onions and a splash of sweet chilli sauce and it's perfect :)

If you only want it to put on chips, Asda do a chip shop curry sauce in a tub. It's like bisto you add spoonfuls to water. I love it!

The Asda cheap curry sauce does taste like chippy curry sauce. I wouldn't use it for a proper curry but it is nice with chips.

It is very chip shop curry like and full of sultana's (I had to pick them all out haha)

It was actually fine made into a curry, we just added chicken, peppers, onion, chillies, a pinch of garlic and a tin of tomatoes. It makes it less chip shop like with a tin of tomatoes added (changes the colour too) and with extra spices it has extra kick too - will definitely buy again and at 4p who can complain:j
