In Asia (Japan , China)Stockbrokers branches all around major city. Market particaption is higher. People can have chat at branches to exchange tips and look at the share price. Radio channel announce indices every 30 minutes. Index in New york, Hong kong are higher than UK.

Out of curious anyone know which stockbrokers let me invest Hong Kong Singapore, taiwan stockmarket.

In the Uk, the best country in my opinion, the average man or woman in the street is not interested in the stock market. Pupils in school are not taught about money matters, encept perhaps for some enlightened ones.. My grandson has always complained that when his father and I discuss funds etc he does not understand what we are talking about. Much of what you are complaining about is available on the Internet and this suits me. If you dislike the way we do things here I'm afraid that's just too bad and with regard to being able to invest in the markets you have mentioned, this info can also be accessed on the Internet. All the brokers I know cover these markets.

    What a strange thread:rolleyes:
  • The price of shares is higher in usa because more people trade it, the % value goes down I think because of this but you could also argue they have a greater investment atmosphere.

So long as its a well regulated fair system then alot of people looking for the best growth prospect in the economy should work out really well vs a system where government is left to allocate funds. We are going to see how well that works out too I guess

We also know most people want a quick buck not really to invest for 10 years and sensible research is hard work and fairly boring as well.

I took business studies when I was in school, it was a normal subject available. A fairly basic course but I think its to peoples advantage to understand companies are not a black box which hopefully makes money
The last thing we want, is to be left relying on politicians for their business acumen

If the OP was saying asia and usa have more enterprise opportunity both good and bad then sure I guess this is true unfortunately

Invest in 10 years? Depends on timing. If you enter stock market between September 2008- April 2009 you can do value investing. It depends on entry time into market.

If you buy Stocks on 2007 but do not sell on 2008 you become loser.
