VANQUIS: Lost card charge?

I applied for a new Vanquis card and got a replacement, no problem.
However on my next statement they have charged me a balance transfer fee of £5.59 from the old card to the new card. !!!!!!?! There is nothing on the terms on conditions I believe that allows them to do this, plus this is just damn wrong! (Considering I was in £318.57CR!) Has anyone else seen this?

There were times when I wished that I had lost my vanquis card...0

I'm not sure how sub prime cards differ from mainstream ones but i'll try to help. Did you contact them to say you'd lost your card and to ask for a replacement or did you actually APPLY for another card, ie a different account? If you've actually opened another card entirely and then cancelled the old card's account i can only assume they're treating it as a new account and have transfered the balance over. Rather than just a replacement for a lost card if you get me.0

I just told them I'd lost my card and needed a replacement! Next to the old card number says "balance transfer"...0

NO they do not charge you, unless this is a very recent change to the T'c and C's? Doubt it though, probably just an error. I'd give them a ring, i think their customer services are really helpful (apart from sundays!
)
Vanquis- Limit £1250, balance £0
Capital One Classic- Limit £800, balance £0
Natwest Current Account- £800 OD limit, approx £600 OD
Loan- £3300, will be paid off by Dec 09
Student Loan- paid off Dec 09 (That's £150 a month extra! Woohoo)
Empire Catalogue Account- £750 limit, balance £300 -
