Tell the letting agency or landlord to sort it out - that's what you pay for.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

They just won't set up the account and eventually disconnect or fit a prepay meter.
If I say I am me and I have moved in, I am in a deemed contract and have not choice about it. Similarly the utility is in a deemed contract and has no choice about it. So if they don't set up the account or disconnect or fit a prepayment meter, they are in breach of the deemed contract.
If they want to get out of the deemed contract, they have to prove that I am not me , but the previous occupier.
Granted people do pretend to be other people to get out of their obligations, but that does not give the utilities any excuse to get call centre staff who are largely ignorant of customers' rights start pushing the rest of us around.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. You do owe then proof of who you are and when you moved in, its a very common occurrence and not a nightmare, just copy your tenancy agreement and send it in job done.
I've had to do it a number of times, its like any other contract, you are going to be using a commodity on credit so you do owe the people who are giving you this credit some amount of information.
And unlike most credit company the info is not even checked particularly well. I don't condone this but a friend of mine just changed the date on his tenancy agreement in photoshop, sent it in and got 6 months free energy!0 -
