Keeping phone number when leaving Virgin

Hi,

I have tried to search for this but can't find anything, but I can't think I'm the only one who has ever wanted to know this so please do accept my apologies if it has been covered before!

I am looking at changing from cabled Virgin Media as it's over expensive and the quality of service we are receiving is appalling, to be honest. However, our land line is a Virgin cable number. I have my own business working from home and so would therefore really like to keep my phone number if I can, as it's already printed on all of my business cards and things. If I left Virgin for someone else we would probably have to reactivate our landline, but I want to know if I can keep the phone number or not. If I can't then I might have to think very carefully about changing providers, but I don't want to let Virgin know this!

Can anyone shed any light? It will be much appreciated! :happyhear
