Options
Hello everyone
Please could somebody help me with a problem.
My fiancee had a pair of GHD straighteners bought for her by her son Nov 07 and they are faulty they have a 24month warrenty but she cant find receipt has tried shop where goods were purchased but apparentely their records dont go back that far, and ghd are absolutely useless and they know when goods were manufactured but not when sold, so they want to charge fiancee for repair which i dont think is right. What can i do. going to try trading standards and cab for advice.

    "What can I do?"
Search a bit harder for the receipt.

When my daughter's stopped working, I searched the web and found several sites selling spare parts and comprehensive instructions on how to diagnose the faulty part and how to repair them. Saved a fortune.

    Google is your friend.

You're going to trading standards and the CAB because YOU have lost the receipt? It's not the suppliers fault you have lost it and it isn't THEIR responsibility to know when you purchased them, it's YOURS.

The onus is on you to provide proof of purchase. If you can't, well, it's your loss unfortunately...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

I am sorry you feel like that.

    Just what were you expecting?

Huh......Why would the cat want a receipt for hair straighteners?

My girlfriend sent hers to GHD.. it was outside of the warantee but they said they'd look at it. They then sent a letter saying for £23 they would "fix" them for us. They sent brand new ones.. for £23 that's not bad!
  • if they were paid for on card, use bank statement as proof of purchase
  • OP why didn't you register them when you got them? It's easily done through their website and then GHD would have had a record of them and could quite possibly have repaired them on the strength of that information.
