Router died. What should I look for in a new one?

As the title really.
My Netgear DG834GT died so I'm back on my pre wireless router.
Any suggestions on what I should replace it with. I like to be as future proof as possible so if there is anything coming up perhaps that might influence my choice.
Other than that a basic 4 port modem router plus wireless for the laptop should do it.
And of course not too expensive! Does about £50 sound right?

Not sure how future proof this is, but it is at a bargain price.
£14.99 delivered, including a Wi-Fi Dongle..

ADSL2+ is a good idea if your local exchange will be supporting it. It can be faster than ADSL and can be intelligent in quickly adapting the transfer speed according to the noise in the system. More views on this here. My Netgear router runs an open source linux distribution by the DG Team that enables a trade between noise margin and sync rate. The DG834 is one of their specialities. I have a DGN2000 myself.

Thanks for the advice.
I think NETGEAR DGN2000 Wireless N ADSL Modem Router with FREE USB Adapter at Misco for £68.99 looks a balance between cost and features. Might even find a discount code somewhere!
