    Well first of all - save them now.

    Second of all - do you have a backup of your external drive?

    Thirdly, put the card back in, right click its icon in "My Computer" and select properties, then select the "Tools" bit, and then run a checkdisk on it. Let's see what that does...

    OK have saved them
    No I haven't got a back up copy of external drive...only got it few weeks ago as the last one corrupted...see a theme going on here! (still need to get all the files off that but think thats a bit more tricky as it has no power)

    Have run the file mend thing and it didn't bring anything up?
