How to claim Bank charges back when taken out of Income Support Money

Hi all, Hope somebody can help me, I'm disabled & have my Income Support going into my bank account every 2 weeks which is only £79.90 & the bank has charged me £76 for 2 direct debits not being paid, so now leaving me with £3.70 to live on for 2 weeks. Is there anything I can do to claim the £76 back from the bank or am I going to be struggling for 2 weeks. cheers

Nar, not open on weekends :( plus i've got the £3.70 in bank plus I'm going to see what I get for a couple of items that I'm going to pawn after I see what the bank says as I've totally got nothing in the flat. i.e heating, electrics on emergency about £0.75p left no food plus on me bank statement for last month is doesn't show up the unpaid item charges & never got charged for them at the time both have just been taken out this morning out of the account as I went to the cash machine this morning and saw a CHG for £76 :(. gonna have to get this sorted or i'm in a mess but I don't know what to say to the bank or anything

Which bank are you with and have you spoken to them by phone at all? They have to leave you enough to live on.

You do have a first right of appropriation but that tends only to work in advance of the charges going out and if they dont notify you you cant do it.
