Which Canon camera best value for money?

Ive been looking at getting the Canon Ixus 95 and managed to find it at a good price of £158.00, Ive read mixed reviews about this camera comparing it to past IXUS cameras from the range.
However ive now found the Ixus 110, also for a good price £190.

For the price difference do you think its worth paying the extra to get the Ixus 110? Or to save myself some money ( as of course i'd like to spend as little money as possible) is the Ixus 95 about the same performance?

Thanks

Hard to say without knowing what you want it for. I have the Ixus 70 and the mina reason I bought it was size. It had good reviews (Canon almost always are) and as the 80 was about to be released it was sub £100, but I have a SLR I use for "proper" photo's this is a sit in any pocket snapshooter.

One has a 10 MP sensor one has 12, both far more than you'll need to happy snaps, One is square and one is round. The new one dues HD level video. Nice to have but do you need it and it will eat memory cards up at a phenominal rate.
End of the day the 110 is this years model, the 95 last, canon tends to make small evolutional changes to the camera rather than major fixes. Go to Steves Digicams and reads his reviews then go see if you can find a shop to see how they feel in your hands.
  • Thanks for your post.

Well i dont know that much about camera's, the last one i bought was a Kodak easyshare 2 years ago. The main thing i want is a good quality photograph, my kodak pictures takes terrible pictures at night.
Also I dont want it to scratch easy- ive read some of the Canon models do scatch quite easy.

  • After much research I bought the Canon SX110is. Very pleased with it, particularly the macro mode which is fantastic. It's a similar budget to the one you've quoted.

Powershots are not the same size, Powershots are the "traditional size" cameras. Ixus are packet of fags size camera's.

Sure Ixus are missing some of the feature of the Powershots, but the main selling point is size rather than anything else. Again depends on the OP's use.

Being perfecly honest as long as your in flash range it should be OK. My Ixus is useless at longer exposure shots (read 4+ seconds) but then I tend to use the SLR and a tripod for that. Powershot ranges also tend to have longer zooms, but then again it's down to a size issue. http://www.gavinchester.com/japan/image106.html shows a night shot, it's been down sized for the web but you can see it makes a pretty good job of the scene. (If you look at others on the web site many are from my SLR so don't assume they are all from the Ixus!)

I've no noticable scratches on the thing, it lives in a pouch most of the time, but I also have a "official" underwater case (cost more than the camera) that is used if it's likely to get wet or in a sandy place.
