new sata hard drive

was given a sata 21/2 hard drive as present , along with a ebuyer case to put old one in.The case came with lead to connect to usb on laptop ,2 usb in end ,like a ''h'', do both go into usb ports? first time trying to transfer, have paragon partition manager,pluged lead one end int new hd case ,other 2 usb's into l/t/ ran clicked on paragon ,copy hard disc ,waited 20 min untill new one showed loaded ,replaced into l/t but something missing??? any suggestions welcome...zee
