hey i was wondering if anyone can help, moving into a 1 bed flat in a couple of days, everything is electric and we have no idea roughly how much we can expect our electirc bill to be or if it would be better to pay buy direct debit or have a pre payment key. if anyone could help that would be great, all i know is that we are with n power

Check which tariff you are on! Some npower electricity tariffs are one-and-a-half times as expensive as other tariffs. Make sure, as soon as you move in, you telephone them and tell them to switch you to their cheapest electricity tariff so you aren't extorted on their standard tariff.
Then you can shop around to find the cheapest tariff in your region. If it's not E7 EDF have a cheap electricity offer just now.0 -
If its all elec it 98% of the time will be a 2 rate e7 meter, eon are good for them but I would say £50 a month but make sure if you have storage heaters that the input is set to 3, output set to 1 to give you cosy but not excessive heat / bills0

The flat is on Npower e7 standard tarrif which doesn't really suit us as we dont need a night rate cos work early will be in bed.We have rang Npower and been told can switch to any tarrif soon as we move in which the cheapest tarrif is their online16 tarrif which is 9.p standard with £55 a year standing charge does any1 know if this is a good rate for electirc??????We was thinking of going prepay but the rate is 12p standard with a yearly charge os £21.50 so can ppl please advise which would be better thanx0

If you work early does that not mean an e7 tariff may work better for you? Remember the night rate is the middle of the night, not the evening. So you can have standard heaters on in the very early morning and showers at the cheap rate (one-third of the standard rate.) If you have the storage heaters you can get away with storing even less than PNPSuknet suggests - and you won't have the problem many have with a horrible amount of the stored heat leaking out unused whilst you are out at work - you won't have to expensively supplement them late in the evening.0

yea night rate is from 12-7 or 1-8 in morning by which me and my partner wil b in bed by 10pm cos both up for work at 530am main use of electricity wil be used from 5-10pm for tv lights comp etc thats why a cheap day/evening tarrif we feel will b cheaper for us then e7 with a night rate.Thank you for your comments so far

I live in a small one bed flat, all electric. I use prepayment meter and put in £10 a week, I currently use about £8.50 but am trying to 'save' a bit in it for winter time. I am currently unemployed and spend a lot of my day in the flat. I also have an ancient boiler/storage heaters etc. Also have the cheap night rate, so I try and do my clothes washing at night.
Hope this helps:j0
