Cheapest business number with automatic Answerphone

Hello people,

We don't want to have someone answering the phone for our website and want to stick just to email. I was wondering what the cheapest way was to do this:

Customer calls us - automatic answerphone message plays basically saying "please send an email" - (No beep to leave answer message).

We have an 0845 number but don't mind changing it.

Thanks in advance!

Don't put a phone number up?

Seriously, this would infuriate me. You may think that everyone who can access your website can use email, but things aren't always that simple. My mum does, my dad doesn't: if he wanted to get something as a surprise for her how's he supposed to do it? (I know, you may not be selling that kind of thing!)

I know I usually have the reverse problem, in that I hate it when emails are ignored and I have to phone. But to pay for a phone call only to be told you won't answer it ...

Sorry but what springs to mind is

'Someone in their back bedroom trying to make a few bob'.

So I would not deal with this type of business - sorry again!

In the past I have used the boring BT 1571 where you pay so much a month but customers get a recorded message. We paid £2.50 per month but did get a lot of calls through on this as our business was no calls for an hour then a dozen in a few minutes.
