Faulty Van- What next?
Hi, I own a van that I bought from new from a dealer 2 1/2 years ago. I have had an intermittent fault with it pretty much from the start. I took the vehicle back to the dealers many times (80 days plus) and they have just not being able to solve the problem. They admit there is a fault, and to be fair have tried many things and always provided a courtesy vehicle, and have been as helpful has possible but the fault remains. What now?
What are my rights? Do I demand a new replacement van? or one of a similar age and mileage? How would I go about that? Do I need a Solicitor? An independent report? What?
Or do I just sell it and pass on the problem to someone else? It's still under warranty after all.

Sell it and pass the problem on is your best bet.
This is the problem with intermittent faults.
The dealer has done/is doing everything they can do. They have provided you with a loan car each time.
So maybe it's time to get shut.
the dealer could offer you a replacement, like for like.
Getting an ambulance chaser involved wont help, really...0 -
Given that this is a documented fault from new I’d say you’ve been more than patient and now it’s time to start stamping your foot and get it cured or replaced as it obviously wasn’t merchantable quality when you bought it.

Generally I agree about ambulance chasers, it seems somehow unsavoury but remember they only exist because sellers/manufactures unlawfully treat their customers like crap.
I’m staggered you’ve put up with it for so long and dismayed that the dealer/manufacturer has let it go on for so long.0 -
I'd be interested to know what van/make/model etc..
I had hell for two out of three years with my previous car car whilst it was under warranty. The dealers seemed to have it more than I did. I gave up in the end and let our lot take a look at it - they found the fault, I bought the part, which took five minutes to fit - and then I wrote a letter to Ford Motor Company to let them know that their dealerships were letting them down.
I got a phone call one day from Fords customer services - they were very nice and offered to pay for the part, but needed the old part - which I had thrown away just two days previously.... it had been rolling around in my boot for a couple of weeks.. typical!Genie

i would have taken it back and would have been looking for a replacement well before now, after 3 or 4 times not fixing the fault then i would have been wanting it replaced....work permit granted!0
