Telephone or Meeting

I wouldn’t want to worry anyone – and I doubt it really matters either way.

But can you “predict” if you’ll get a telephone interview with the OR – or a meeting.

I hear that all the OR’s offices try for telephone interviews (it’s quicker, saves time and all they are all very busy…)

I’m guessing they’ll only want a meeting if you've made a bit of a “hash” on the paperwork – or if your situation is a little complicated.

But as always I would be grateful if anyone can clarify this.

    reasons for F2F interview

    1. Business continuing or ceased in the last 6 months (self employed people is a bit of a grey area)

    2. Business ceased more than 6 months ago BUT very complicated i.e had a chain of shops

    3. Personal but very large deficiency (£100,000 or more)

    4. Very obvious misconduct (if someone puts on their SOA, i lost £50,000 gambling)

    5. personal needs of the bankrupt eg. hard of hearing or bankrupt requests F2F

this is not exaustive but a rough guide

  • I think we will have a F2F, even thou its not a business BR, it contributed to our personal BR.

The business stopped trading in May, however we cant close it till we go BR as dont have the money, and no one is owed enough to close company down.

i would try to look at it positively. Since they normally offer you a coffee, it would be great if when they brought it to you, you fished in your bag brought out a pack of biscuits and started dunking them

Wow thanks for the fast replies.

Now to add a twist (doubt anybody would want to do this...)

But say you are offered a Telephone meeting - but for whatever reason (maybe you would like a coffee) - could you ask for a Face to Face meeting?

Yes you can, it might mean waiting longer as there are less opertunites available as they have to allocate interview rooms. Some people are just very nervous speaking over the phone when they cannot see the other person

It's a very good point - some people would prefer a F to F meeting exactly for the reason you mentioned - they may be uncomfortable talking on the phone.
