From what I remember it took ages for them to send me the statement after the 12 months I am sure it was after the account had been closed anyway so it wouldn't have been much used to me by then. I will search it out and check what it says on mine anyway

That's a fair point. My letter doesn't show the date I received it (I sometimes make a note) but as the next DD was not due until December 3rd, I would guess that the time interval was sufficient - but can't be sure.
