car insurance and windscreens!

though i would let people know of my experiences today.....
basically my windscreen shattered after being hit with something on the road. So i made a claim through Auto direct with Fortis being the underwriters, having rang the designated number I was faced with two options depending alphabetically on my surname, either 1 or 2, i was eventially connected with Auto glass so far so good i thoght... However, Auto glass were unable to replace my screen for three to four days but took the insurance excess of £60 up front tying me into a job with them.
This left me with a problem of no car so I contacted my insurance company who advised me to re dial the origianl telephone number but this time opt for the alternative number as it will put me in touch with another windscreen company !!!! i didnt know this!!!
so tried it and was put through to National windscreensm, from the beginning they were proffesional, polite and extremely helpful, within 2 hrs they were on my doorstep with a windscreen and didnt want any money up front until the job was complete.
Complications arose when i rang Auto Glass back to cancel my job and request a refund. This resulted in numerous telephone calls eventually to head office, as i was consistently told a refund would take numerous days. I was given the runaround and found the whole experience non too pleasant.
My argument is that due to my surname i am getting a different service from others in a different part of the alphabet.... personally i would rather have been given the choice of the two companies.
just thought i would let you all know incase its of help...
