Rocks & Co

As a very new newbie, not sure if this is the correct forum.

Have been watching Rocks & Co jewellry auction channel and am astounded at the starting and finishing prices. Can this be real and a good buy? My partner wants to buy me an engagement ring but we are not sure if we can be sure of what we are getting quality/genuine stones etc. Can we believe what we have been seeing.

Would welcome some advice.

Some might sneer but I've had Diamond jewelry from QVC and found it to be great quality, I had a Diamond & Opal ring from there had it valued at double what I paid for it.

I've also had gold necklaces from the bid up auction channels and that too was good quality. You can always send it back if your not happy with what you buy.

  • I have noticed on a lot of these jewellery auction channels there is a very small text scrolling along the bottom of the screen along the lines of -
'Starting price is not representative of the actual value.'
    .....or words to that effect.
Thats not to say its not good quality, but i would not take much notice of the start price.
It just makes you think you're getting a huge bargain when you're probably not paying much less than you would in a jewellery store.

I have also watched some of these programmes and while i would not buy, because i don't need anything rather than because of the quality. Like kyasarin i have noticed the small print, the starting prices are totally random, do a bit of research, Check out some jewellery website.

I think it is very hard to put a real value on gemstone jewellery and what a jeweler will value it at and what they will buy it off you for are very different.

I think with the more expensive ranges they come with a certificate which gives you some idea of quality, but if you are thinking your investing and your ring will gain in value probably not. But you may get a great engagement ring that you will love.
