Could use some advice here folks.
WTH do I do?
- Sold a mobile phone on eBay last week for £100
- Pre-printed a Special Delivery with £500 insurance label through Paypal using the confirmed address
- Affixed to parcel, took it to the post office, got a receipt when I handed it over
- Patted-self-on-back for following the right rules, all be it for less profit
- Its not been delivered
- I checked my PO receipt in preparation for a claim and was surprised to see that it said 1st class packet pre-paid, not special delivery
- Called the local PO who checked their log, and then apologized because they think they processed it wrong
- Royal Mail have said they'll only pay RD compensation of £39
- Post Office counters dont want to know
- Additional insult to injury; RM say the buyer might actually have got it - they stopped scanning Recorded Delivery mail as a result of the strike action !

With Paypal mail you need to make sure that PO process it as the correct thing. As much as its partly the PO fault you need to take a little responsibility for not checking when it was sent.
If you only sent the item a week ago RM do not consider it lost untill 15 days so there is still a while. Also if it went somewhere like London (or even passed through there may still be some backlog after the recent strikes. So it will be worth waiting a little
I would be complaining to the PO you sent it through. Its really PO counters you need to be causing a fuss with. All you can do is try and make as big a fuss as possible and hope that it has some effect.0
